Wyoming: Laws & Regulations

Wyoming’s Laws & Regulations for Assistance Animals are as follows:

Acceptance

Emotional Support Animals (ESA):Accepted with Conditions

Psychiatric Support Animals (PSA):Accepted Nationwide

Service Animals:Accepted Nationwide

Tip:Wyoming’s rural towns, national parks, and tourism areas may have limited familiarity with ESA/PSA rules. Always carry your Physical ID Card, wear visible Recognition Gear, and bring your Registration Certificate and Behavior Certificate to avoid confusion in small communities and park regions.

Housing

Wyoming landlords must comply with the federal Fair Housing Act (FHA), which protects ESAs, PSAs, and Service Animals when proper documentation is provided. Wyoming’s housing discrimination laws align with federal requirements.

Air Travel

Wyoming follows the Air Carrier Access Act (ACAA). Only trained service dogs may fly as Service Animals. ESAs must comply with airline pet rules. DOT forms may be required at Jackson Hole (JAC), Casper (CPR), Cheyenne (CYS), and regional airports.

Tip:Our registry is approved by all airlines — your Physical ID Card, Recognition Gear, and Registration Certificate ensure fast ACAA verification.

Public Access

Wyoming follows the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and state law under W.S. § 35-13-203. Only trained Service Dogs — including psychiatric service dogs — must be allowed in restaurants, hotels, stores, medical facilities, transit systems, parks, and government buildings. ESAs do NOT have public-access rights in Wyoming.

Additional Notes

  • ADA: Only task-trained dogs qualify as Service Animals.
  • ACAA: Airlines accept only trained Service Dogs for in-cabin travel.
  • FHA & Wyoming housing law: ESAs, PSAs, and Service Animals must be accommodated.
  • Misrepresentation penalties: Wyoming enforces fines for fraudulent Service Animal claims under state law.
  • Recognition Gear: Highly recommended statewide, especially in national park regions.
