Quick Checklist (Bring to the Airport)

Required Documentation & Gear (must bring)

  • Physical ID Card (animal + handler identification).
  • Recognition Gear: Service Animal vest, bandana, or harness.
  • All WestJet-required pre-approval documents (as applicable).
  • Vaccination Records including rabies certificate.
  • Microchip matching all documents.
  • Veterinary Health Certificate (required for international routes).

Preferred Documentation (greatly facilitates acceptance and pre-clearance)

  • Registration Certificate (our registry is accepted by all airlines).
  • Prescription Letter confirming PSA or Service Dog need.
  • Behavior Certificate.

Steps to Take (in Order)

  • After booking, notify WestJet you are traveling with a Service Dog or PSA.
  • Submit all required documentation in advance.
  • Bring printed and digital copies to the airport.

Route Limitations (Service Dogs)

  • Service Dogs accepted on most domestic and international routes.
  • PSAs are accepted but require advance documentation and may undergo additional checks.
  • ESAs are not recognized as assistance animals under Canadian airline rules.
