Quick Checklist (Bring to the Airport)
Required Documentation & Gear (must bring)
- Physical ID Card (animal + handler identification).
- Recognition Gear: Service Animal vest, bandana, or harness.
- All WestJet-required pre-approval documents (as applicable).
- Vaccination Records including rabies certificate.
- Microchip matching all documents.
- Veterinary Health Certificate (required for international routes).
Preferred Documentation (greatly facilitates acceptance and pre-clearance)
- Registration Certificate (our registry is accepted by all airlines).
- Prescription Letter confirming PSA or Service Dog need.
- Behavior Certificate.
Steps to Take (in Order)
- After booking, notify WestJet you are traveling with a Service Dog or PSA.
- Submit all required documentation in advance.
- Bring printed and digital copies to the airport.
Route Limitations (Service Dogs)
- Service Dogs accepted on most domestic and international routes.
- PSAs are accepted but require advance documentation and may undergo additional checks.
- ESAs are not recognized as assistance animals under Canadian airline rules.
