Quick Checklist (Bring to the Airport)
Required Documentation & Gear (must bring)
- Physical ID Card (animal + handler identification).
- Recognition Gear: Service Animal vest, bandana, or harness.
- Virgin Australia assistance-animal submission (72 hours ahead).
- Vaccination Records including rabies certificate.
- Microchip matching all documents.
- Veterinary Health Certificate (international routes may require).
Preferred Documentation (greatly facilitates acceptance and pre-clearance)
- Registration Certificate (our registry is accepted by all airlines).
- Prescription Letter confirming PSA or Service Animal need.
- Behavior Certificate.
Steps to Take (in Order)
- After booking, notify Virgin Australia of your Service Dog or PSA.
- Submit all relevant documents and special-assistance request.
- Bring printed and digital copies to the airport.
Route Limitations (Service Dogs)
- Service Dogs accepted on most domestic and international routes with advance approval.
- PSAs are treated as task-trained Service Dogs and may require documentation/review.
- ESAs are not recognized as assistance animals under Virgin Australia; they must travel as pets under standard pet rules.
