Quick Checklist (Bring to the Airport)

Required Documentation & Gear (must bring)

  • Physical ID Card (animal + handler identification).
  • Recognition Gear: Service Animal vest, bandana, or harness.
  • Virgin Australia assistance-animal submission (72 hours ahead).
  • Vaccination Records including rabies certificate.
  • Microchip matching all documents.
  • Veterinary Health Certificate (international routes may require).

Preferred Documentation (greatly facilitates acceptance and pre-clearance)

  • Registration Certificate (our registry is accepted by all airlines).
  • Prescription Letter confirming PSA or Service Animal need.
  • Behavior Certificate.

Steps to Take (in Order)

  • After booking, notify Virgin Australia of your Service Dog or PSA.
  • Submit all relevant documents and special-assistance request.
  • Bring printed and digital copies to the airport.

Route Limitations (Service Dogs)

  • Service Dogs accepted on most domestic and international routes with advance approval.
  • PSAs are treated as task-trained Service Dogs and may require documentation/review.
  • ESAs are not recognized as assistance animals under Virgin Australia; they must travel as pets under standard pet rules.
