Deworming / Tapeworm Treatment Rules
Italy does not require tapeworm treatment for incoming dogs.
Veterinarians recommend routine deworming, especially for dogs visiting rural or agricultural regions.
Restricted Breeds at Entry
Italy has no national breed bans.
However, powerful breeds may be subject to leash and muzzle rules in some municipalities.
Local authorities may have stricter requirements for breeds such as Mastiffs, Rottweilers, and guardian breeds.
Public Transport & Transit Rules
Service Dogs are allowed on all public transit, including trains (Trenitalia/Italo), buses, metros, and ferries.
Pets may require a muzzle, leash, or transport ticket depending on the operator, while Service Dogs travel without restrictions or fees.
