Entering from Europe
- No documents required for Service Dogs, PSDs, or ESAs.
- If you are flying, follow the airline’s requirements only.
Entering from Outside of Europe (International Entry)
Required Documentation & Gear (must bring)
- ISO-Compliant Microchip (must match all documents)
- Rabies Vaccination Certificate
- Puppy must be 12+ weeks old at the time of vaccination
- High-risk countries: Rabies Titer required
- Low-risk countries (Canada, Western Europe, etc.): Titer not required
- Veterinary Health Certificate (vet letter confirming no known diseases)
Preferred Documentation (greatly facilitates acceptance and pre-clearance)
- Physical ID Card (animal + handler)
- Recognition Gear (Service Animal vest, bandana, or harness)
- Prescription Letter (ESA, PSA, or Service Animal letter from a licensed professional)
Important Notes
- A physical ID Card, Registration Certificate, and visible Recognition Gear speed up the processing.
- No airport restrictions: Entry through any Danish airport is allowed if airline requirements are met and documents are presented.
- Assistance Animals follow the same import rules as pets.
Deworming / Tapeworm Treatment Rules
Denmark does not require tapeworm treatment for entering dogs.
Routine deworming is recommended, especially if dogs will be visiting countryside or coastal wildlife areas.
Restricted Breeds at Entry
Denmark has a strict national breed ban list.
The following breeds (and mixes) are banned from entry:
- Pit Bull Terrier
- Tosa Inu
- American Staffordshire Terrier
- Fila Brasileiro
- Dogo Argentino
- American Bulldog
- Boerboel
- Kangal
- Central Asian Ovtcharka
- Caucasian Ovtcharka
- Sarplaninac
These breeds cannot legally enter Denmark under any circumstance.
Public Transport & Transit Rules
Service Dogs are fully permitted on all Danish public transportation, including trains, buses, and metro systems.
Pets may require a ticket, leash, or muzzle depending on operator rules. Service Dogs travel without restrictions.
