Quick Checklist (Bring to the Airport)

Required Documentation & Gear (must bring)

  • Physical ID Card (animal + handler identification).
  • Recognition Gear: Service Animal vest, bandana, or harness.
  • All airline-required pre-approval forms.
  • Vaccination Records including rabies certificate.
  • Microchip matching all documents.
  • Veterinary Health Certificate.

Preferred Documentation (greatly facilitates acceptance and pre-clearance)

  • Registration Certificate (our registry is accepted by all airlines).
  • Prescription Letter for PSA or Service Animal.
  • Behavior Certificate.

Steps to Take (in Order)

  • After booking, notify SWISS that you are traveling with a trained assistance dog (Service Dog or PSA).
  • Submit all required veterinary and travel documents for approval before departure.
  • Bring printed and digital copies of every document to the airport.

Route Limitations (Service Dogs)

  • Trained Service Dogs accepted on most routes in the cabin, according to SWISS assistance dog rules.
  • PSAs are treated as task-trained assistance dogs and may require additional review and documentation.
  • ESAs are not recognized as assistance animals; they must travel under standard pet rules (cabin or hold) if permitted, with additional fees.
