Nevada: Laws & Regulations

Nevada’s Laws & Regulations for Assistance Animals are as follows:

Acceptance

Emotional Support Animals (ESA):Accepted with Conditions

Psychiatric Support Animals (PSA):Accepted Nationwide

Service Animals:Accepted Nationwide

Tip:
Always carry your Physical ID Card and visible Recognition Gear. Nevada—especially Las Vegas and Reno—moves faster when you also carry a Prescription Letter, Registration Certificate, and Behavior Certificate.

Housing

Nevada landlords must comply with the Fair Housing Act (FHA), which requires them to reasonably accommodate ESAs, PSAs, and Service Animals with proper documentation. Nevada also enforces NRS 118, which expands disability protections in housing.

Air Travel

Nevada follows the Air Carrier Access Act (ACAA). Only trained service dogs are recognized for in-cabin travel. ESAs must fly under airline pet rules. DOT forms may be required at Harry Reid International (LAS), Reno–Tahoe (RNO), and other airports.

Tip:
Our registry is approved by all airlines — your Physical ID Card, Registration Certificate, and Recognition Gear ensure fast verification.

Public Access

Nevada public access follows the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Nevada Revised Statutes NRS 426.805. Only trained Service Dogs—including psychiatric service dogs—must be allowed in casinos, hotels, restaurants, transit, stores, hospitals, and government facilities. ESAs do NOT have public-access rights in Nevada.

Additional Notes

  • ADA: Only dogs trained for tasks qualify.
  • ACAA: Only trained Service Dogs may fly in cabin.
  • FHA & Nevada law: ESAs, PSAs, and Service Animals are protected for housing.
  • State penalties: Nevada enforces fines for misrepresentation.
  • Recognition Gear: Highly recommended in tourist-heavy areas.
