Quick Checklist (Bring to the Airport)

Required Documentation & Gear (must bring)

  • Physical ID Card (animal & handler identification).
  • Recognition Gear: Service Dog vest, bandana, or harness.
  • Malaysia Airlines Special Assistance Approval required for PSAs & Service Dogs.
  • Veterinary Health Certificate valid for Malaysia and destination country.
  • Rabies Vaccination Certificate meeting import requirements.
  • Microchip ISO-compliant for international travel.
  • Behavior Standards: dog must be calm, trained, and remain under handler control at all times.

Preferred Documentation (greatly facilitates acceptance and pre-clearance)

  • Registration Certificate (our approved registry is accepted by all airlines).
  • Prescription Letter verifying PSA or Service Dog need.
  • Behavior Certificate confirming safe and public-appropriate behavior.

Steps to Take (in Order)

  • Apply for Malaysia Airlines assistance-animal approval immediately after booking.
  • Confirm Malaysian import requirements for assistance animals.
  • Carry printed & digital copies of all veterinary and approval documents at all times.

Route Limitations (Assistance Animals)

  • Only PSAs (as service dogs) and trained Service Animals are accepted in the cabin.
  • ESAs are not accepted on any Malaysia Airlines route.
  • No pets are allowed in the cabin.
  • Some international destinations require additional quarantine documents or permits.
  • Aircraft floor space may limit the size of service dogs permitted onboard.
