Lithuania: Laws & Regulations

🇱🇹 Lithuania’s Laws & Regulations for Assistance Animals are as follows:

Acceptance

Emotional Support Animals (ESA):Accepted with Conditions

Psychiatric Support Animals (PSA):Accepted Nationwide

Service Animals:Accepted Nationwide

Tip:Always carry your Physical ID Card, Recognition Gear, Registration Certificate, and Behavior Certificate. These items greatly improve acceptance across Lithuania.

Housing

Lithuania does not have a dedicated national law requiring landlords to accept assistance animals. Acceptance is based on landlord policies and building rules. Service Animals and PSAs are generally accepted when documented. ESAs often require a prescription letter, behavior documentation, and proof of registration.

Air Travel

Airlines serving Lithuania — particularly from Vilnius, Kaunas, and Palanga airports — follow EU aviation standards. Service Animals and PSAs are typically accepted in the cabin when behavior and documentation requirements are met. ESAs are generally accepted with conditions depending on individual airline rules and destination-country entry laws.

Tip:Our registry is approved by all airlines — having your ID card, registration certificate, and recognition gear ensures smooth processing at Lithuanian and EU airports.

Public Access

Lithuania follows EU disability-access standards. Service Animals and PSAs are typically permitted in public transportation, restaurants, shops, hotels, hospitals, government buildings, and cultural sites when properly identified. ESAs may be accepted with documentation but do not have guaranteed access rights.

Additional Notes

  • Service Animals & PSAs: recognized across Lithuania.
  • ESAs: accepted with documentation depending on venue.
  • Lithuania follows EU-wide microchip, rabies vaccination, and veterinary-entry requirements.
  • Recognition Gear minimizes delays in crowded public locations.
