Quick Checklist (Bring to the Airport)

Required Documentation & Gear (must bring)

  • Physical ID Card (animal & handler identification).
  • Recognition Gear: Service Dog vest, bandana, or harness.
  • China Airlines Assistance Animal Pre-Approval (mandatory for all PSAs & Service Dogs).
  • Veterinary Health Certificate for departure and arrival countries.
  • Microchip (ISO-compliant) for most international destinations.
  • Rabies Vaccination Certificate compliant with Taiwan and international rules.
  • Taiwan Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine (BAPHIQ) Permit for inbound flights.

Preferred Documentation (greatly facilitates acceptance and pre-clearance)

  • Registration Certificate (our approved registry is accepted by all airlines).
  • Prescription Letter confirming PSA or Service Dog status.
  • Behavior Certificate confirming calm temperament and public-safe behavior.

Steps to Take (in Order)

  • Submit China Airlines assistance-animal approval immediately after booking.
  • Check quarantine and import rules for Taiwan or your destination country.
  • Carry all documentation in printed and digital format.

Route Limitations (Assistance Animals)

  • Trained Service Dogs and PSAs are accepted on all eligible China Airlines routes.
  • ESAs are not accepted under any circumstances.
  • Taiwan requires strict import rules including microchip, rabies vaccination, and pre-arrival approval.
  • Space restrictions apply depending on aircraft type and route.
  • Certain international destinations may require additional documentation or quarantine permission.
