Quick Checklist (Bring to the Airport)
Required Documentation & Gear (must bring)
- Physical ID Card (animal & handler identification).
- Recognition Gear: Service Dog vest, bandana, or harness.
- Cathay Pacific Service Dog Advance Approval (mandatory).
- Veterinary Health Certificate based on departure/destination rules.
- Microchip (ISO-compliant) for international routes.
- Rabies Vaccination Certificate meeting Hong Kong and international requirements.
- Hong Kong AFCD Import Permit for arrivals into Hong Kong.
Preferred Documentation (greatly facilitates acceptance and pre-clearance)
- Registration Certificate (our approved registry is accepted by all airlines).
- Prescription Letter confirming PSA or Service Dog need.
- Behavior Certificate confirming calm and public-safe behavior.
Steps to Take (in Order)
- Apply for Cathay Pacific Service Dog approval immediately after booking.
- Secure import permits when flying into Hong Kong or other restricted destinations.
- Bring digital and printed copies of all veterinary and approval documents.
Route Limitations (Assistance Animals)
- PSAs and trained Service Dogs are accepted on all Cathay Pacific routes.
- ESAs are not accepted under any circumstances.
- Hong Kong has strict quarantine and import regulations requiring advance approval.
- Space limitations apply on certain aircraft types.
- Additional documents may be required for travel to the U.S., UK, EU, Australia, and Japan.
