Quick Checklist (Bring to the Airport)

Required Documentation & Gear (must bring)

  • Physical ID Card (animal & handler identification).
  • Recognition Gear: Service Animal vest, bandana, or harness.
  • Air Transat Special Assistance Approval (mandatory for Service Dogs & PSAs).
  • U.S. DOT Service Animal Air Transportation Form for flights to/from the U.S.
  • Veterinary Health Certificate depending on destination requirements.
  • Microchip for international routes.
  • Rabies Vaccination Certificate compliant with destination-country rules.
  • Pet-in-Cabin Requirements for ESA-style travel: carrier size, weight limits, and paid fee.

Preferred Documentation (greatly facilitates acceptance and pre-clearance)

  • Registration Certificate (our approved registry is accepted by all airlines).
  • Prescription Letter confirming PSA or Service Dog status.
  • Behavior Certificate confirming calm, public-safe behavior.

Steps to Take (in Order)

  • Apply for Air Transat assistance-animal approval immediately after booking.
  • Follow pet-in-cabin rules for ESA-style travel.
  • Bring printed & digital copies of all veterinary and approval documents.

Route Limitations (Assistance Animals)

  • Air Transat accepts trained Service Dogs and psychiatric service dogs on all eligible routes.
  • ESAs may travel only as pets in cabin for a fee.
  • Flights to Europe, the U.S., and the Caribbean may have additional veterinary requirements.
  • Cabin space limitations may apply on certain aircraft.
  • Some destinations require advance import permits or health inspections.
