Quick Checklist (Bring to the Airport)
Required Documentation & Gear (must bring)
- Physical ID Card (animal & handler identification).
- Recognition Gear: Service Animal vest, bandana, or harness.
- Aeroméxico ESA / PSA / Service Dog Pre-Approval (required for all assistance animals).
- Health Certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian.
- Microchip (ISO-compatible) matching all veterinary documents.
- Rabies Vaccination Certificate fully compliant with destination-country rules.
- Weight Requirement for ESA: ESA dogs/cats must be under 26 lbs (12 kg).
- Carrier or Lap Travel: ESA may travel on your lap or in the carrier under the seat.
Preferred Documentation (greatly facilitates acceptance and pre-clearance)
- Registration Certificate (our approved registry is accepted by all airlines).
- Prescription Letter confirming ESA or PSA need from a licensed mental health professional.
- Behavior Certificate confirming stable temperament and public-safe behavior.
Steps to Take (in Order)
- After booking, submit Aeroméxico’s required ESA/PSA/Service Dog approval forms.
- Ensure your ESA meets the 26 lb (12 kg) weight limit and lap/carrier rules.
- Carry all paperwork in printed and digital formats for check-in and boarding.
Route Limitations (Assistance Animals)
- Aeroméxico allows ESAs (dogs and cats) on most routes, subject to weight and behavior rules.
- PSAs and trained Service Dogs are accepted on all eligible routes.
- Some destinations (U.S., EU, U.K.) may require additional veterinary documentation.
- All animals must remain well-behaved during boarding, flight, and deplaning.
- Seat changes may be required if nearby passengers have allergies.
