Quick Checklist (Bring to the Airport)
Required Documentation & Gear (must bring)
- Physical ID Card (animal & handler identification).
- Recognition Gear: Service Dog vest, bandana, or harness.
- Etihad Pre-Approval required for all Service Dogs and PSAs.
- Veterinary Health Certificate confirming fitness to fly.
- Microchip (ISO-compliant) and Rabies Vaccination Certificate.
- Destination-specific veterinary and import documents (UAE, U.S., EU, etc.).
Preferred Documentation (greatly facilitates acceptance and pre-clearance)
- Registration Certificate (our approved registry is accepted by all airlines).
- Prescription Letter confirming psychiatric need (PSA only).
- Behavior Certificate confirming calm, safe behavior in public spaces.
Steps to Take (in Order)
- Submit Service Dog/PSA documents to Etihad’s Special Assistance team immediately after booking.
- Confirm UAE and destination-country animal travel regulations.
- Carry printed and digital copies of all required documents.
- Arrive early for document verification at check-in.
Route Limitations (Assistance Animals)
- Service Dogs and PSAs are accepted on most Etihad international routes.
- ESAs are not recognized and cannot travel in the cabin.
- Some countries require additional veterinary clearance on arrival.
- Large dogs may face space limitations depending on aircraft configuration.
