Quick Checklist (Bring to the Airport)

Required Documentation & Gear (must bring)

  • Physical ID Card (animal & handler identification).
  • Recognition Gear: Service Dog vest, bandana, or harness.
  • LOT Special Assistance Approval required for PSAs & Service Dogs.
  • EU Pet Passport or EU-compliant Health Certificate.
  • Microchip (ISO-compliant) required for all EU travel.
  • Rabies Vaccination Certificate compliant with Poland/EU laws.
  • Pet-in-Cabin Requirements (carrier size, weight limits, paid fee) for ESA-style travel.

Preferred Documentation (greatly facilitates acceptance and pre-clearance)

  • Registration Certificate (our approved registry is accepted by all airlines).
  • Prescription Letter confirming PSA or Service Dog status.
  • Behavior Certificate confirming calm and public-safe behavior.

Steps to Take (in Order)

  • Request LOT assistance-animal approval immediately after booking.
  • Verify EU import/export rules before departure.
  • Carry both printed and digital copies of all veterinary and approval documents.

Route Limitations (Assistance Animals)

  • PSAs and Service Dogs are accepted on LOT’s European and international routes.
  • ESAs may only travel as pets in cabin for a fee.
  • EU travel requires strict microchip + rabies compliance.
  • Long-haul aircraft may have limited space for large Service Dogs.
  • Additional requirements apply for the UK, Norway, Switzerland, and Japan.
