Accepted Nationwide
Wisconsin includes major metro areas like Milwaukee and Madison, as well as small rural communities. Carry your Physical ID Card, wear visible Recognition Gear, and keep your Registration & Behavior Certificates ready, especially in counties with limited awareness of ESA/PSA distinctions.
Housing
Wisconsin landlords must comply with the federal Fair Housing Act (FHA), requiring accommodations for ESAs, PSAs, and Service Animals when proper documentation is provided. Wisconsin’s Open Housing Law under Wis. Stat. § 106.50 also prohibits discrimination based on disability.
Air Travel
Wisconsin follows the Air Carrier Access Act (ACAA). Only trained service dogs may fly as Service Animals. ESAs must follow airline pet policies. DOT forms may be required at Milwaukee (MKE), Madison (MSN), Green Bay (GRB), and regional airports.
Our registry is approved by all airlines. Showing your Physical ID Card, Registration Certificate, and Recognition Gear ensures fast ACAA verification in Wisconsin airports.
Public Access
Wisconsin follows the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and state law under Wis. Stat. § 106.52. Only trained Service Dogs—including psychiatric service dogs—must be allowed in restaurants, hotels, stores, medical offices, public transit, schools, and government facilities. ESAs do NOT have public-access rights in Wisconsin.
Additional Notes
- ADA: Only task-trained dogs qualify as Service Animals.
- ACAA: Airlines recognize only trained Service Dogs for in-cabin travel.
- FHA & Wisconsin housing law: ESAs, PSAs, and Service Animals qualify for housing accommodations.
- Misrepresentation penalties: Wisconsin imposes fines for fraudulent Service Animal claims under §§ 106.50 & 951.055.
- Recognition Gear: Strongly recommended in rural and northern Wisconsin communities.
